The kids took swimming lessons this summer from a guy that lives close to us. He is a coach at Maize and we really liked the idea of having the "private" lessons. There are only 7 kids in each class so, he is able to work individually with them. At first, the kids didn't want to do it because they said they were too old...but, yesterday, they wanted me to find out if they could go to more sessions since they love it so much. It was good for them and we will definitely be signing them up again next year! Now, the practice begins......but, one thing is different - somehow, when I was their age, I remember my swimming lessons and freezing my butt off early in the morning at a public pool and praying that we wouldn't have to get in the water! Not a private heated pool - these kids have it made.

YMCA Water Park
Carlee really loves the water just as much as the older guys. We had a great time with all of them!

Idiosyncrasies and more....
I thought I would do something a little different with this post. I always find it fascinating the little things that make us all unique, lovable, annoying or even a little weird! But, I find some enjoyment out of learning about people and their behaviors...SO - I thought I would give you a glimpse of our little family and give you some info that you might not have ever known about us....enjoy.

Matt -
- Underwear has to be folded in half and then tri-folded
- Socks have to be turned right side out before being folded together
- Will not drink coffee heated up in the microwave or eat baked potatoes that have been cooked in the microwave.
- Is driven crazy by the sound of someone eating/crunching chips or smacking
- Midnight snack is a tablespoon of peanut butter
- Has to pull all the bed sheets straight and then fold them back before he gets into bed even if someone is already in bed - SLEEPING
- Has to stretch his legs every night before bed so he doesn't kicked to death- Restless leg.
- LOVES COFFEE and can't really live without it - at least I don't want to be around if he tries! Ha!
- Cannot go to bed if there are dirty dishes in the sink...so - he does them. I think this is one of the reasons I married him. ;)
Cayden -
- Would light absolutely everything he/we owned on fire if we
would let him
- Will eat an entire watermelon if we would let him
- Loves to have his ears cleaned out - gross, I know.
- Can fall asleep in about 2 seconds and lets out a loud breathing
noise/sigh when he is asleep
- Likes his back to be "poked" (pressing your fingers lightly into his back) when he is laying in bed going to sleep
- Has an infatuation with freezing things - I am always finding things in the freezer
- Will not eat licorice
- Thinks he is nocturnal :)
Cyvannah -
- Loves to organize her dresser drawers and does it
frequently (Praise the LORD)
- Would eat nothing but sweets if we would let her
- Has to go to sleep laying on her side
- Has to keep her bed sheets pulled up and sleeps on top of
them with just the comforter covering her up
- When she was little - her "binky" and "blankey" were called "Mitzy" and "Mitezy"
- Always lays down and covers her head when we are riding on the boat
- Gets car sick
- Rubs the tape of a blanket when she goes to sleep
Carlee -
- Would live outside if we would let her
- Has to have a binky (pacifier) and a sippee cup with her when she
goes to bed
- Sticks her pointer finger (sticking straight up) through the loop of
her binky while it's in her mouth - when she's sleepy
- Loves to chew/suck on wet wipes or as we know them "wha whas"
- Loves for Matt and I to give her a "group" hug. Over and over and over again
- Is addicted to Mimi's purse and wallet. Mimi has to leave it in the garage or out on the porch when she comes over now - unless she needs it cleaned out!
- Is addicted to shoes!! My shoes, her shoes, dads shoes - everyone's shoes. We are in trouble - just make sure you hide yours if you come over
- Rubs the tape of a blanket also!
Mom -
- My house has to be straightened up before I go to bed
- Laundry has to be intricately separated
- I don't want to share my hairbrush/toothbrush or any other kind
of brush with anyone
- If I drink milk - it has to be really cold with ice in it
- I always eat my cereal and ice cream in a cup - not a bowl
- I frequently have "panic" attacks or sudden fear that something is going to happen to my kids or my husband - I know, I am a weirdo!
- I have an EXTREMELY sensitive nose to everything. It's a curse! Although - one of the most comforting things to me is my kids' smells - they are all different and all wonderful
- And finally - guess what? At 33, I rub the tape of a blanket when I go to sleep. There is a lot to be said about genetics - Ha!

How to eat "Corn on the Cob"....
Daddy's little "cornhusker" pride and joy.........sometimes I forget she's not even 2 yet!!! Corn is one of her most FAVORITE things to eat....
Tanganyika...What a BLAST!
This is a "newer" wildlife park here in Kansas. I had my company picnic here Thursday night. We had never been there before and it was an awesome place! The kids loved it and it was cool to be able to see the different animals and to be able to feed the Lemurs and play with the birds, turtles, bunnies, pigs, kangaroos (if you look closely at the picture of the kangaroo by herself - you can see a little ear poking out of her pouch - there were several kangaroos hopping around with their babies in their pouches - very cool!) and see the beautiful white tigers. They had giraffes, a rhino, Red Panda and some other creatures as well. This park takes the approach that you can "be" with the animals- so, many of them were not caged and you could interact with them. It was a neat experience. In case you are wondering, the Lemurs were the favorite and we fed them Craisins....they were the cutest little things - very soft and their little hands were very delicate. They just grabbed a hold of your hands and pried your hands open to get their snack! It was a perfect night!
Ellen - "this bird's for you"......Ha!
Ok....at Tanganyika there is a bird cage that you can go into and these birds are oh so friendly. They land all over you to get their liquid food! I am not a bird person but, I made a sacrifice so the kids could see them. However, Matt and I got stuck with the birds because all of the kids were freaked out - the birds kind of just flocked to you for food and they were kind of aggressive. So - Ellen, we thought you would enjoy these pics.....

My husband...the eternal 10 year old...makes a new friend!
Whenever I hear - "Mom, come quick, Matty has something to show you" - I never know what I am going to find. Usually, I know that it is going to be something poisonous (like the black widow that he caught and kept as a pet last summer) or something destroyed (like when he backed over our new stroller last year with the Durango) or something awesome (like the beautiful rock bench that he built on our new patio!) or something SLIMY - like this newest TEMPORARY member of the Jensby family. The thing that I am saddest about is that I didn't have the camera out when he was chasing this bullfrog down the street trying to catch it in the dark rainy night! Now THAT would have made some good photos.....
Ahhhhhh.......I never know what's next.
And - don't worry - there were not any animals hurt in the posting of this message. The little (big) frog will be let go tomorrow evening just after Cayden gets home and sees it. Can't risk the opportunity for a lesson in history repeating itself...like father like son...Ha!
